Unheard of yet, American up-and-coming producer Ian Ellison shall not remain a secret much longer. Making his debut on Unreel with "Coulda, Shoulda, Woulda", a two-track EP showing off the exquisite lushness of his palette and sixth sense for crafting moody electronics that translate with optimal effect on the dance floor. Alum of John Tejada at Cal Arts, this debut transmission attests to Ellison's widescreen vision and all-round soothing touch, each track evoking fragments of long-haul voyages across time and memory, organically extending into a deeply captivating and poignant headspace where tides of synthy open-endedness quietly clash along murmuring chimes and forward-moving drums.

The lead-track features all of that vibrant, subtly hued vision and crystalline harmonics Ellison calls home. Like a glimmering sea of machine-borne poetics, rolling waves crashing upon deeper-laid layers of aquatic bass and brittle bleeps languidly blooming at its surface. A piece of hypnotic, early Rephlexian reminiscent material primed for laid-back listening sessions and after party divagations. Then comes "Rerunner", a slab of feelgood, ambient-laced downtempo headed for sunny territories. Etching its smooth and dreamy flavours deep into your sensory strongbox, this one compels through its perfectly engineered mix of fun-loving, Chicago-style dusty shuffle and chromatic synth lacework. Unburden yourself and cast off to a world of toasty serenity and coastal escapism.
